Valdes v. United States

Valdes v. United States, 475 F.3d 1319 (D.C. Cir. 2007) (en banc)

Case Decided: February 9, 2007

Practice Area: Criminal Appeals

Outcome: Conviction Reversed – All Charges Dismissed

Description: When Nelson Valdes, a dedicated D.C. police detective, was charged with bribery, he turned for representation to Paul Zukerberg and Lou Hennessy (now Judge Hennessy).

After a hard fought jury trial, followed by four years of appeals, 12 judges of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, sitting en banc, finally ruled that Valdes committed no crime and dismissed every charge against him.

Paul’s victory on behalf of Detective Valdes changed the legal landscape to protect honest public officials from unfounded charges.
