Delegate Curt Anderson (D-Baltimore) has introduced a marijuana reform bill in the Maryland House of Delegates.  H-1453 would create a system to regulate marijuana like alcohol.

Anderson was first elected to the House of Delegates in back in 1983, and is currently Chair of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee – so he knows what he’s talking about. He also chairs the Maryland State Commission on Sentencing Policy and the Task Force on Indigent Criminal Representation.

With Anderson on board, marijuana reform may move forward in Maryland. And DC? Don’t get your hopes up. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson told the Post that “I don’t think this is the time for the District to be discussing” marijuana law reform.

Discussions may happen anyway. Marijuana reform candidate Paul Zukerberg is on the April 23, 2013 ballot for an at-large Council seat. He has vowed to bring marijuana law reform to the District. To follow his campaign, visit
