The Washington Post is reporting that Del. David Englin (D-Alexandria), who proposed selling marijuana in Virginia ABC stores, won’t seek reelection because of an extramarital affair.
Englin, an Air Force veteran and Harvard grad, was a voice of reason in the war on marijuana. His proposal to study the sale of pot in Virginia ABC stores along side alcohol would have raised a billion dollars a year for state coffers. It never came up for a vote, killed by the anti-marijuana crusaders. Lots of people have affairs. One wonders who was behind the pressure to force out Englin.
