On November 13, 2012, the recreational use of marijuana could be legal in Colorado – at least under state law.
Voters in Colorado have gathered enough signatures to place the legalization of marijuana for recreational use on the November ballot.
The law would allow persons over 21 years of age to possess and grow personal use amounts of marijuana. A similar measure failed to pass in California in 2010. Expect an intense campaign.
Meanwhile the U.S. Department of Justice continues to crack down on medical marijuana operations in Colorado, Washington State, and California. Raids on dispensaries and farms have escalated, with landlords threatened with eviction and asset seizure.
